For reasons unknown, Dear Old Dad and I are watching season one of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” on DVD. At the first scene, I”m all like, you know who that broad is, right? He’s like, no, I have to see her again. I’m like, you know Rita from “Dexter?” He’s all like, no way that’s her. Unless she got a nose job. I’m all like yuh huh that is too her.

In 1996, [Julie] Benz auditioned for the role of Buffy Summers in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997), but lost out to Sarah Michelle Gellar. However, she was offered a small role the vampire Darla in the pilot episode. Her performance was so well-received that her part was expanded to a few more episodes. The role helped launch her career.
